Baccarat Betting:

The tie bet is the worst. The house edge can be anywhere from 5% to 14%.

People often wonder if card counting helps in any way. Well, the answer is no, It is totally ineffective, and provides no advantage to players. The reason is simple. Unlike blackjack, where high cards help players, and low cards help dealers, in baccarat, any card can help or hinder the player and dealer equally. Since you can’t adjust your bets by the distribution of the deck, card counting is not at all useful.

Now that you know the basic goals of baccarat, it’s important to learn the rules of the game as well.

The main objective of this game is drawing a two or three card hand which adds up closer to nine than the banker’s hand does. In hands in which the total is higher than ten, the ten is subtracted, so that actually hands close to 9 or 19 are best.

To start the game, the player and the banker each receive two cards. If either one of them totals eight to nine, they stand automatically. If the player’s total is six or seven, the player will stand, and if they stand, the banker is required to hit a total of five or less. When the player has a total of five or less they automatically hit, meaning that the banker will deal a third card to the player.

Baccarat Objective:

The objective of Baccarat is to draw a two- or three-card hand that totals closer to 9 than the banker.

10, J, K, Q count as 0, A is a 1 and all other cards are face value. If your total is more than ten, you drop the ten. So a 7-9 hand totals to 6 (16, drop ten).

There is no such thing as a "bust" hand.

Baccarat Rules:

• The banker and the player each draw two cards. If either the player or banker totals 8 or 9, both automatically stand. There are no exceptions.
  
  
• If the player's total is 6 or 7, the player stands.
  
  
• If the player stands, the banker hits on a total of 5 or less.
  
  

• If the player's total is 5 or less, the player automatically hits and the banker gives the player a third card. This third card is drawnaccording to:

• Bakers hand totals 0,1,2: the banker will always draw the third card.
  
  
• Bankers hand totals 3: the banker will draw if the players third card is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,0. But never 8.
  
  
• Baker total is 4: he will draw if the player’s third is 2,3,4,5,6,7.
  
  
• Banker has a 5: draws if player’s third is 4,5,6,7.
  
  
• Banker 6: draws if the player’s third is 6,7.
  
  
• Banker 7: the banker must stand.
  
  
• The one whose total is closest to nine once the last cards are dealt is the winner.
